Word of God is Revelation 3:1-3
1 To the angel of the church in Sardis write :
He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this :
'I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die;
for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.
3 So remember what you have received and heard and keep it, and repent.
Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief,
and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

Today, we will study the church in Sardis.
The church in Sardis was an incompetent church.
The church in Sardis lacked truth and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
We must have the right knowledge.
For example, if you have the knowledge of law, various languages, medicine, cars..., your life becomes more convenient.
With more knowledge, your life will be more convenient.
Knowledge of faith is also important.
The knowledge of God's salvation is recorded in the Bible.
We have to know the Word of God.
The Word of God is knowledge, rule, and lamp of our life.
The Word of God is truth.
We have to know and believe in the Word of God(Bible).
Without knowledge of God, we will die.
"inspiration of the Holy Spirit"
Inspiration is mysterious.
Inspiration of the Holy Spirit makes us to believe in God's Word.
Inspiration of the Holy Spirit makes God's Word clear.
Inspiration is important, but truth is important, too.
Many people try to find only fervent (hot) inspiration nowadays while not knowing the truth.
If you only pursue fervent inspiration, you will deviate.
The church in Sardis had truth, but they lost the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
So God said to them "Wake up!"
Their religious life was dead.
So, we must have the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
"deeds" "I know your deeds"
God creates all things in heaven and earth.
God judges, repays everyone with rewards and punishments,
and God alone reserves and reigns over the spiritual world and the universe eternally.
So God knows all about us.
Deeds(acts) makes history, his life, and footsteps.
Deeds mean one's thinking, behavior, words and mind.
3:1 "you have a name of being alive but you are dead"
"You are dead" means 'his body did not die, but all his actions died'.
The results of one's actions make various functions.
Without the function of making people alive(The function which will be used in heaven,), it is dead.
We have to remember this.
All deeds that a man has committed during one's lifetime will be recorded in God's book of deeds.
All things can be known by reading the Bible.
"You have a name that you are alive, but you are dead."(3:1)
If we commit sins, our bodies are alive but is just like those who are asleep (a corpse.)
"you are dead" means 'we become useless in heaven'.
"and every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible."
Patience and hard work are important.
But the result of act of unbelief is death.
"truth and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit"
We have to be afraid of eternal death.
Our salvation is accomplished through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the protection of the Word of God, and obedience by faith.
So we have to live by faith, not by the dead.
