Revelation 2:22-29

2:22 Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts, and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
24 But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them -- I place no other burden on you
25 Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come.
26 He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from my Father.
28 and I will give him the morning star.
He who has and ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

People in this world hate black and white logic but they like harmony.
They don't want to hear sermons about heaven or hell.

There is a purpose of the existence of the church in this text.

The church in Thyatira had no faith.
Industries and commerce developed in the church in Thyatira at that time.
And there were many idols in Thyatira at that time, too.
They forgot God.
They had transformed the church into a place of humanism.


"The Son of God who has eyes like a flame of fire"

God knows everything about us.
The owner of the church is God, but the owner of the church in Thyatira changed into human.
Let's consider about another religion.
People made those religions.
The religion of the world has been created by men except christianity.
People have made gods by their own imagination.
But Christianity existed before men came.

God is the master of the church if it is a right church.
The church must have a hope of heaven.
The driving force of christianity must be God.

We should not love this world(money, honor, family..) before God.
The church in Thyatira considered the church for a business.
The church has become secularized.

The church in Thyatira ignored the faith.
They loved money and honor before God. So they corrupt.
The owner of the church was man not God.
The Lord gave them the opportunity to repent.

2:22
Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness and there who commit adultery with her into great tribulation unless they repent of her deeds.

"a bed of sickness" means "their activity is dead".
God is love. He is our Father.
God wants us happy. He hopes our happiness.



We have to remember these facts.

1. God is the owner of the church.
God gave them a chance to repent, but they didn't.
So the Lord prepared a whip.
God is love and His work is love, too.
We must live according to the will of the Lord.

2. The church has fallen because they did not repent their sins.
All their actions were dead.

3. God is love.  
He gave them the opportunity to repent.
When we die, the chance to repent is over.
The Lord wants our repentance.

4. If we don't repent our sins, if we reject the love of God, His love will hit us.
The bigger the love, the greater the pain.
God wants us to repent.

"I will throw her on a bed of sickness"
our lives will be in vain.

Wise people prepare their future, People usually forget the past and if we don't know the past and present, we cannot prepare for the future.
The church in Thyatira thought the owner of the church was human.
Jezebel tempted the people(the members of the church).
So they thought the church as a  business.
So God said "I will throw her(Jezebel) on a bed of sickness,
This word means" If we don't repent our sins, God will throw us on a bed of sickness, our lives will be in vain, too."

We must live for the Lord in heaven.
God must be our master.
