<A life of outward and inward>
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart.
'Therefore' means connection with forward sentence.
'We' include all believers.
'Losing heart' means because the heart goes down, so there is no power.
Hope means there is future and desire.
People have hope, so they endure today's difficulties and cheer themselves up again.
When people think there is no hope and no way to solve the problem, they become disappoint, despair and give up.
Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
'Outwardly we are...'
:The person who is followed by his(her) body and mind.
'Inwardly we are...'
: The person who is followed by Spirit.
'Wasting away' means that it become decay and decompose.
The punishment of disobeying God's command was getting old and sick.
The thing that men cannot do is to stop time.
There is no way to avoide againg and death.
Therefore, people became disappoint.
When a person face death who live his lives hard and without regret, he will not sad and regret.
We cannot relive and go back to past time but if there is nothing left when we face death, we might feel disappoint.
This person lives his live outwardly.
But we believers have hope of heaven so we should live not to disappoint.
We have to live inwardly.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us and eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
