<Cause of the Saul's fail, Arrogance>
1 Samuel 13:8-15
Last week, we learned about Jonathan, Saul's son and David's friend.
Saul's end was bad because he didn't keep God's commend. Jonathan died at the war,
so we may think his end also bad but when we look about his work, we can realize Jonathan is different with Saul.
Saul is the first king of Israel.
Mose to Joshua, we called the generation of God.
From Josha until before Saul, we called the generation of teacher.
The last teacher was Samuel.
From Saul, we called the generation of King.
When the genereation become getting down, the relationship between God also getting far away.
At the generation of King, there is a King between God and nation of God.
After the generation of God and teacher, Israel ask God to make King.
Therefore, because of their attribute of freedom, God stand Saul as a King. At that time, Saul was humble and obedient.
After Saul became a King of Israel, but before settle the country's basis, Ammonite attacked Israel.
Saul won that war and got the acknowledgment of the people.
After finished the war, Saul was waiting Samuel to offer up the burnt offering. But Samuel was late so Saul did that.
That is not Saul's right. Therefore after Samuel came he asked, "What have you done?".
The most biggest reason why Saul did arrogation was arrogance.
(1) Arrogance is a ignorance of God.
Knowing God well is all histoy is written by God's predestination. And it is humble(modesty).
Also, we have to know and believe that the final result is decided only by God.
Without this knowledge, people can complain and resent God.
The result is not decided by people's effort. (But if we did not put our effort, that is also arrogance.)
If we make aim ourselves and try to reach that goal, that is arrogance. And this is a cause of Saul's failure.
That is God's work not ours. We have to know this fact.
(2) Arrogance is a ignorance of oneself.
Modesty is knowing their seat and where they have to stand.
(3) Arrogance is a ignorance of people.
We should not believe people because they are not perfect. But at the same time, people is object that we have to redeem.
The main reason of Saul's failure is "Arrogance".
(4) Arrogance is a ignorance of object.
If we don't know about object, we cannot judge and treat correctly.
We should be humble not arrogant.
