2018.2.4. <Job's test>
hymn 34
Now Jesus invites you, the Spirit says come!
And angels are waiting to welcome you home.
hymn 78 <Why not believe, my brother>
Alas! and did my Savior bleed,
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I? ...
Let's pray.
===========JOB 7:17-21 p768
17. What is man that you make so much of him that you give him so much attention
18. that you examine him every morning and test him every moment?
19. Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?
20.If I have sinned, what have I done to you, O watcher of men?
Why have you made me your target?
Have I become a burden to you?
21. Why do you not pardon my offenses and forgive my sins?
For I will soon lie down in the dust ;
you will search for me, but I will be no more.

The content of Sunday School today was the story of Job.
Job is a model of patience in Bible history.
Job1:1-1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job.
This man was blameless and upright, he feared God and shunned evil.
Job was an honest man. He also feared God and had ten children.
His possession was huge. He offered burnt offerings daily for his children.
Job was the pride of God.
God, angels and satan are spiritual beings.
(1:9-10) Satan is the king of the devil.
"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.
Satan is not able to communicate with God.
Satan is a being under the sovereignty of God.
God doesn’t move by the words of Satan.
The record of this conversation between God and Satan was written by humans and recorded for us to understand easily.
(Job 1:13-) "Job" records the test Job received.
All his children died in one day.
And all of Job's property was lost in a day.
Can we withstand this test?
Job was a patient man.
We live in peace without war, but we should not think that peace will continue.
All of Job's difficulties were sudden events.
Job was a real person.
He is not a fictional character.
Job had no reasons to be in trouble. He was a righteous man.
He was always humble.
(1:20-) "At this, Job got up and tore his rove and shaved his head..."
But Job did not resent God. (2:1-) <Job's second test>
(2:4) "Skin for skin! Satan replied..."
God commanded Satan no to touch Job's life.
Job's body was covered with inflammation. (2:7)
"with painful sores"
Then Job's wife said to him like this.
"Reproach God and die!" "Curse God and die!"
But he replied "You are talking like a foolish woman.
Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
Job received a very difficult test from God. Job was a righteous man.
So we may not understand this word.
Why did God give this difficulty to Job?
God loves us and never forsakes us.
We don't know what to do. We have to prepare 'oil'.
I will continue in the afternoon.
hymn 108 <Jesus, hide me>
Jesus heed me,
Lord receive me to Thine arms and cherish there!
Till the ranging storm is over.
Hide me in Thine ample care. Amen.
